Behind the scenes at Ricky Whittle’s shoot for Square Mile magazine

in Celebrity/Photography/TV

David Harrison photographs Ricky Whittle for London luxury men’s lifestyle magazine Square Mile on the launch of his new show American Gods.

The shoot took place at Tun Yard Studios in fashionable Clapham Old Town and was styled by Rebecca Richards.

Throughout the shoot Ricky cracks jokes and shares anecdotes from his career. At the end he hugs everyone in the room, including one of the design team who had literally just walked in.

In an interview for the magazine Ricky explains how, after reaching the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2009, his profile in the UK never higher, he boarded a plane to Los Angeles, determined to make it in the States.

It just felt like time. I was getting to an age where I thought if I don’t try it now it’s going be too late. And I don’t want to live with regrets. So I’d rather go over there, risk everything, sacrifice everything, and fail – but at least I tried and gave it a go… I wasn’t scared of failing. I was scared of not trying.
